Harpreet Sandhu KC was instructed by the CPS’ Special Crime and Counter Terrorism Division to prosecute two men who were convicted (after a trial before Wall J lasting almost three months) of preparation of terrorist acts and a third man who was convicted of failing to disclose information their acts of terrorism.  Harpreet led Kelly Brocklehurst (2 King’s Bench Walk).  This was one of the most high-profile trials of 2025.

The defendants prepared to kill several hundred Jewish people in Manchester by used four high-powered military grade AK-47 rifles and at least 900 rounds of ammunition. The defendants intended to kill any law enforcement officers who might have intervened. Had the preparations for mass murder been enacted, the defendants would have committed one of the deadliest gun attacks in the UK’s history and certainly the worst attack against the Jewish community. The investigation, which involved the use of an undercover operative, was described as the “largest scale and most complex covert counter-terrorism investigation ever conducted in the North West”.
