Adrian Keeling KC, leading Daniel Oscroft, prosecuted eight men from Walsall who have now been jailed for their involvement in a violent attack on five victims in Walsall. The attack involved a car being rammed by two vehicles, before a gun was discharged into the car at one of the victims, while others set about them with knives, bats, and hammers.
The victims, who had been sitting in their car in Reedswood Lane, Birchills, Walsall after 11pm on 31st July 2024, were seriously injured. A group of men emerged from the two cars and launched a ferocious attack armed with various weapons. CCTV footage captured the attack.
The victims, who sustained severe injuries including slash and gunshot wounds, drove to Walsall Manor Hospital for multiple operations. One man was placed in an induced coma.
Amar Shazhad, Hezar Iyaiz, Mohammed Sajid, Kamran Moore, Shazad Mahmood, Khurum Sajad, Waheed Ayub, and Umar Saddique all pleaded guilty at the start of their trial on 28th April 2025. Two further suspects are still wanted.
The first seven men had previously pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit grievous bodily harm and possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life. They were all sentenced to between 16 and 17 years’ imprisonment each. The last defendant, who had entered a guilty plea to assisting an offender, was sentenced to two years’ imprisonment.
