Viewing: Banking, Finance & Financial Regulation for Harrison Burroughs

Harrison is a member of the Business and Property Group at No5 and has a busy banking and finance practice. He appears in the County Court and High Court on a variety of trials and interlocutory hearings. He acts in small claim, fast track and multi-track cases at all stages.
Harrison has gained extensive experience of banking and finance disputes and is well versed in the common issues that arise in this area of litigation. He frequently represents banks, pension companies, and financial services providers.
Recent cases include:
• Obtained strike out in a string of linked cases brought against a multi-national bank regarding undisclosed commission and unfair relationships under the consumer credit legislation. Harrison successfully argued the loans in question had not been properly assigned to the Defendant entity.
• Acted for a pension provider alleged to have varied the terms of their policy such that a pension had been significantly undervalued.
• Represented a mortgage company in litigation where the Claimant sought to challenge the appointment of receivers following breach of the terms of the mortgage.
• Represented numerous banks in claims of undisclosed commission, breach of fiduciary duties, and unfair relationships under the Consumer Credit Act 1974.
Harrison offers advice and representation in claims where a party has breached their financial obligations, but enforcement is likely to prove difficult. His experience in insolvency, bankruptcy and liquidation litigation allows him to provide a strategic insight into winding up petitions, statutory demands (and setting them aside), charging orders, orders for sale, and bankruptcy petitions.
Prior to joining No5, Harrison worked as a paralegal to the Chief Executive of a large Midlands law firm, specialising in commercial and banking law. As a result, he has a keen understanding of the business needs facing corporate clients.
