Peter Arnold, member of No5 Chambers Crime Group, has prosecuted a 73 year old man, who was found guilty of raping an elderly woman in her home.

Peter Rowley, Wellington, was convicted of one charge of rape after a trial at Shrewsbury Crown Court.

The court heard that Rowley overpowered the woman in her living room in the sheltered accommodation she lives in, on 28th December 2014.

Judge Jonathan Gosling ordered Rowley to sign the sex offenders register for the rest of his life, and sentenced him to 10 years in prison.

He said Rowley was “calculating”, and had chosen his victim as he knew she was vulnerable.
