Wed, 01 Feb 2023

Throughout 2023 No5’s Jonathon Rushton is proudly supporting Race Against Dementia, a charity founded by three times F1 Champion Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE, whose singular purpose is to fund pioneering research into the prevention and cure of dementia.

This year Jonathon will be competing in a number of races for production and GT cars built between 1947 and 1969- cars with which Sir Jackie will readily identify as being cars he raced in or against when he first ventured into motorsport.  You can follow Jonathon’s progress throughout the season in the Historic Road Sports championship on the Historic Sports Car Club website.

Ahead of this amazing challenge, Jonathon said:

“Having lost three members of my family to dementia I am throwing my support behind Race Against Dementia at a time when the need to work faster and smarter has never been clearer, the race is on to find both a prevention and a cure for dementia.”

The championship is fought over 7 race weekends.

  • Snetterton Autosport 3-hour weekend - 22 April - 23 April
  • Cadwell Park Wolds Trophy meeting - 6 May - 7 May
  • Silverstone International Trophy meeting - 27 May - 28 May

About Race Against Dementia

Race Against Dementia was set up by Sir Jackie Stewart in 2016, following his wife (Helen) of over 60 years being diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia in 2014.  Sir Jackie Stewart, having won three F1 World Championships, numerous fastest laps, pole positions and stood on the top step of many podiums, now freely admits he is now facing one of the biggest challenges of his life.

"I know first-hand the devastation that dementia brings to entire families when they realise there is currently no cure. I want to change this in my lifetime" -Sir Jackie Stewart, OBE
