Michael Duck QC & Daniel Oscroft secure acquittal of accountant accused of £5m HMRC gateway/tax website conspiracy to defraud

Four business men including R H,  an accountant, were found not guilty of all charges of conspiracy to defraud in relation to a Sunderland based Taxreturngateway website, which prosecutors claimed was deliberately designed to deceive users into believing they were dealing directly with HMRC.

Hundreds of users complained to Trading Standards following a campaign by the Daily  Mail.

The trial had been scheduled to take place In September 2016, for three months but was adjourned until September 2017. See here for further information about the trial.
