Constable Mark Milton, 46, has been cleared of dangerous driving after crashing his patrol car driving at almost 100mph on the A442 at Cold Hatton.

PC Milton had been chasing what he believed to be a stolen car, struck a ‘splitter’ traffic island then mounted a grass verge.

He admitted driving at ‘some speed’ but denied driving dangerously, saying that a dazzling light had temporarily distracted him.
