Tim Newman has over 30 years experience representing a broad range of clients but is primarily engaged in cases involving clinical negligence and serious trauma.
Tim has dealt with many cases involving obstetrics, serious birth injuries and claims arising out of treatment immediately post accident, for example orthopaedic injuries and prescribing mishaps.
He deals with claims involving a wide variety of health professionals such as general practitioners, dentists, surgeons and nurses. He is particularly adept at cutting through complex medical evidence and identifying key issues, including allegations of negligent or unnecessary treatment and a failure to obtain consent.
Fatal accidents and claims arising out of negligently performed cosmetic surgery are other areas of his practice.
He deals with Inquests relating to deaths in hospital or other care institutions including those involved with mental health.
Appointments
Tim is a recently appointed trustee of “Kissing it Better” – a charity focused on the improvement of the experience of patients in hospitals and other care institutions.
Tim has acted as a Court Examiner in the Australian High Court in respect of an English claimant’s personal injury claim.
Memberships
Tim is a member and former Secretary of PIBA and a former member of the Bar Council.
Qualifications
Tim is a qualified Mediator.
