Tim is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (having achieved fellowship level in both UK and International Arbitration), with experience of arbitration and mediation in commercial, environmental, partnership, property, public authority, restrictive covenants and trust disputes. He is an accredited civil and commercial mediator.
Tim is happy to attend pre-appointment interviews in accordance with the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators Guidelines on the Interviewing of Prospective Arbitrators. He is available for both normal and fast-track arbitrations.
His writing on ADR includes publication in ‘Arbitration’ (the Journal of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators), in ‘Solicitors Journal’ and in ‘European Advocate’.
In International Arbitration, Tim has particular knowledge of the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG), the Convention on the Contract for the International Carriage of Goods by Road (CMR) and EU Environmental Directives. He has trained judges in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia and Slovakia on behalf of the Council of Europe, US State Department and Slovak Ministry of Justice, addressed the Istanbul Bar Association and spoken at an international arbitration seminar in Sofia. Articles of his on European law have been published in Slovak and Turkish. Tim was the UK organiser and joint chair of the successful joint Budapest Bar Association/Midland Circuit seminar in Budapest in April 2011 on International Arbitration, arranging speakers from Bangladesh, Cameroon, Hungary, South Africa and the United Kingdom. He acted as a presiding arbitrator in international inter-university moots at the Willem C. Vis International Commercial Arbitration Pre-Moots in Belgrade, Ljubljana and Sofia, in which he presided over tribunals arbitrating between university teams from Asia, Australasia, Europe, and North, Central and South America.
He established on a pro-bono basis and acts for a community mediation scheme ‘Mediation Rugeley and Brereton’ in central Staffordshire.
In addition to being a member of the Bar of England and Wales, he is also a member of the Bars of Ireland and of Northern Ireland. He is a member of the Midland Chancery and Commercial Bar Association
In addition to sitting as an arbitrator and a mediator, Tim also sits as a Neighbourhood Plan Examiner (NPIERS qualified) and as a Town and Village Green Inspector.
