Alex is a former full-time Judge of the Grand Court of the Cayman Islands and a charter member of its Financial Services Division.
Alex practised as a barrister in Vancouver, Canada from 1970 until 1995, trying a broad range of commercial and white-collar crime cases. He was made a QC in 1992. He was an Adjunct Professor at the University of British Columbia Law School from 1980 to 1990.
In 1995 Alex was appointed to the Supreme Court of British Columbia. In 2003 he moved to the Cayman Islands to take up a permanent seat on the Grand Court. He sat as a member of the Court’s Financial Services Division from its inception in 2009.
PRACTICE
Alex has now returned to law practice at the Cayman firm of Dinner Martin. He is available to sit as an arbitrator, particularly in cases with a Cayman connection. He also acts as an expert witness on questions of Cayman Islands law.
