Viewing: Brain Injury and Cerebral Palsy for Teresa Hargreaves

Teresa is a Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury specialist with almost 20 years experience. Much of her work is of a complex nature and / or of substantial value. She acts for both Claimants and Defendants and particularly enjoys tackling difficult issues.
Teresa has substantial experience of cases involving brain injury in adults and children. Although not exclusively, many cases arise out of pregnancy and childbirth, and include delays during delivery. In relation to adults, Teresa’s practice includes cases involving stroke (both haemorrhagic and ischaemic) and brain tumours. Teresa’s expertise in understanding complex medical issues has been essential in considering the complex liability issues involved in such cases, and her ability to assess substantial quantum issues is utilised to great effect in pleading schedules / counter schedules and in preparation for joint settlement meetings and trial.
Teresa is involved in these claims from the early stages, providing initial advice on liability and quantum, attending interlocutory hearings and drafting pleadings, as well as taking cases through to joint settlement meetings and trial.
Teresa is highly valued for her robustness, attention to detail, thorough preparation and straightforward yet sensitive manner with clients. She has strived to retain a court-based practice which means that she has a particular skill of handling lay and expert witnesses, both in conference and at trial. She has specialist knowledge on procedural issues (such as breaches, admissions and limitation) and costs, which has proved invaluable during long running and complex litigation.
Teresa has extensive experience of Coroner’s inquests, including Article 2 Inquests, where she represents families, companies and NHS Trusts
Teresa also lectures to solicitors on all aspects of clinical negligence litigation and recent developments.
