Paul Cairnes was called to the Bar in 1980 and took Silk in 2016. His practice initially focussed upon chancery and civil litigation but he now specialises in planning and environmental work. Paul now principally acts for developers and local authorities throughout England and Wales. He is regularly instructed to appear and advise in high profile and large scale development proposals, recent examples of which are included on his Planning Group Profile.
Paul qualified as a civil mediator in 2003. His extensive high court litigation experience has enabled him to successfully mediate a wide spectrum of civil disputes concerning contracts, construction matters, landlord and tenant, trusts, partnerships, sale of goods and services and property related matters.
Paul’s experience has provided him with the ability to bring authority and compassion coupled with a realistic and common sense approach to problems within the limitations of time constraints.
Paul has conducted over 100 time limited mediations as indicated on the Bar Council’s A List of Barrister Mediators.
