Sheraz is a pupil in the Business and Property team and accepts instructions in all areas of commercial, construction, property and chancery disputes and appears in the County Court and High Court on interlocutory applications, CMC, CCMC, Winders List, Bankruptcy List, possession hearings and small claim and fast track trials.
He has gained experience of fast-track trials and several types of interlocutory applications, including setting aside default judgment, strike out, orders for sale and finalising charging orders. He has extensive construction and commercial law experience, both transactional and contentious, within the construction and energy sectors. He has analysed, drafted, negotiated and advised on a broad range of commercial contracts, including licensing, regulatory issues and has conducted all form of ADR proceedings.
He has a particular interest in dispute avoidance by way of advising stakeholders in construction sector throughout the project lifecycle and training the managerial staff on standard forms of contract and ADR.
Career prior to Call to the Bar
Prior to being called to the Bar, Sheraz was a partner of highly reputed energy and construction law firm in Pakistan. He was is dual qualified as an engineer and lawyer, making him uniquely placed to advise on complex energy and construction law matters ranging from contract drafting, contract review, standard forms of contract including FIDIC, JCT, NEC. He has experience in adjudication, mediation and arbitration both as counsel and third-party neutral. He has advised a number of organisations in almost all aspects of construction law. He is on the Approved Faculty List (AFL) of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb) and provides international arbitration training to engineers, barrister, solicitors and public sector organization employees across the globe. He is the founding Chair of the CIArb Pakistan Branch.
