Katie has extensive experience of claims involving allegations of fraud. This aspect of Katie’s practice predominantly includes low velocity impact claims, induced accidents, phantom passenger claims, and exaggerated injuries/losses.
Katie has extensive experience of dealing with allegations of Fundamental Dishonesty within the context of disapplying QOCS and making arguments under Section 57 of the Criminal Justice and Courts Act.
Katie is frequently instructed on behalf of Defendant insurers and is regularly successful in achieving the dismissal of fraudulent claims in appropriate cases as well as securing enforceable costs orders.
As an experienced advocate Katie understands the importance of thorough preparation of cross examination of Claimants where fraud is alleged. She is adept at utilising the documents to reveal inconsistencies in the Claimant’s account.
As well as appearing at the final hearing Katie is regularly instructed in the early stages of proceedings in which fraud is suspected in order to assess the evidence and advise on the prospects of successfully defending the claim. Katie has considerable experience of testing the evidence during conference and advising accordingly.
