John has a long-standing involvement in cases involving aspects of police discipline, having represented a number of officers charged with criminal offences since his early years of practice.

Re PC ‘D’ (West Midlands Police)
Succeeded in retaining the job of a serving officer who faced disputed allegations of using racist language.
R v PC ‘W’ (Leeds Crown Court)
Defending a police officer accused of the sexual assault of a member of the public and misconduct in a public office. Secured an acquittal which was returned by the jury in under ten minutes.
Re PC ‘P’ (West Mercia Police)
Representing an officer who faced allegations of falsifying attendance records and failing to investigate complaints.
Re PC ‘I’ (West Yorkshire Police)
Representing an officer in disciplinary proceedings up to and including the Police Appeals Tribunal. Advised regarding Judicial Review of proceedings. Allegations of the false reporting of duties.
R v PC ‘S’
Representing an officer, who was acquitted at each of 3 separate criminal trials involving allegations of domestic violence and public disorder.
R v PC ‘S’ (Wolverhampton Crown Court)
Representing an officer charged with ten offences of forgery and obtaining by deception based on insurance frauds.

A serving officer charged with harassment of his partner. Substantial preparation was required due to the multiplicity of factual disputes.
