Jamie has extensive experience of cases involving negligent obstetric and gynaecological practice.
For details of his experience of such claims that lead to cerebral palsy, please see his specialist brain injury and cerebral palsy CV.
He is particularly experienced in claims for "wrongful birth”, being recognised in Chambers UK (2019) as "offering … expertise in wrongful birth cases”. He is currently involved in two separate such claims arising out of the negligent failure to diagnose microcephaly during antenatal scanning: one case where he is acting alone, and one involving Leading Counsel with a potential value in excess of 5 million.
He also has extensive experience in relation to other claims for birthing injury and gynaecological errors, including stillbirth claims (and secondary victim claims for psychiatric injury arising out of the same), fertility claims, and claims involving urological complications following surgery, including following hysterectomy.
More generally, Jamie is consistently ranked as a leading barrister for clinical negligence work in both Chambers UK and the Legal 500, having been described therein as "a great all-round barrister” who is "frequently instructed in high-value matters of extreme severity”, "fiercely intellectual, with a very analytical brain" with "an excellent grasp of complex medicine”, and an "empathetic and approachable attitude” that results in an "ability to build a rapport with clients from a wide range of backgrounds".
