James originally had a common law practice, and before joining Chambers’ Specialist Personal Injury and Fraud Team in 2008, had spent considerable time in the Crown Court, prosecuting and defending in cases of serious crime. This experience naturally assists James in conducting civil litigation involving allegations of dishonesty such as LVI, phantom passengers, and staged/induced collisions. He is now almost exclusively instructed on behalf of Defendants, acting for the main, specialist fraud defence firms.
James regularly advises Insurers and Solicitors in fraud cases, and examines potential witnesses on their behalf in order to test the veracity of allegations of dishonesty. With the increased frequency of dishonest claims and the associated costs of running this type of litigation, his assistance is routinely sought pre-action.
James has a significant paperwork practice, settling fraud defences on a near daily basis. Although he has an increasing Multi Track practice, James also routinely acts in Fast Track matters.
James’ strength lies in his ability to critically analyse cases, and give pragmatic and strategic advice.
Away from the bar James a keen sportsman and in particular is devoted to his family and mountain sports.
