James originally enjoyed a general common law practice, but before joining Chambers’ Specialist Teams in 2008, had spent considerable time in the Crown Court, prosecuting and defending in cases of serious crime. This experience naturally assists James in conducting contentious litigation involving serous allegations resolved at fact-finding hearings. His pragmatic advice is welcome at all stages.

James specialises in matrimonial finance and family trusts. He deals with financial remedy applications at all stages.
James’ practice covers cases involving forensic analysis of business accounts, farming cases and cases in which there are issues of non-disclosure or dissipation of assets. He also welcomes instructions in relation to cohabitee disputes pursuant to the Trusts of Land and Appointment of Trustees Act 1996 and applications for financial provision pursuant to Schedule 1 of the Children Act 1989.
Private Law,
James accepts instructions in a wide range of Private law disputes, from Child Arrangement Orders involving intractable contact disputes, to applications for leave to remove children from the jurisdiction and for relocation within the jurisdiction.
