Francesca joins Chambers following completion of pupillage and subsequent employment at the Crown Prosecution Service.
As part of her work at the Crown Prosecution Service Francesca prosecuted various hearings in the Magistrates Court, including trials, remand courts, sentence hearings and case management hearings. In addition to this, Francesca undertook file reviews which required a critical analysis of the evidence, advising the police on reasonable lines of enquiry and considering disclosure. Francesca is fully up to date with the Attorney General’s Guidelines on disclosure.
Francesca attended CPS’ Work Experience Programme where she discussed her path to qualifying as a barrister with law students.
Pupillage
During second six, Francesca prosecuted in both the Magistrates and the Crown Court. Francesca prosecuted committal for sentence hearings in the Crown Court including cases of PWITS, breach of restraining orders and ABH.
Francesca shadowed experienced Counsel in the Crown Court for cases of murder, serious violence and sexual offences. Francesca also drafted documents for complex Crown Court matters.
Francesca completed secondment with No5 where she observed hearings in the Crown Court for both the Crown and the defence. Francesca attended conferences with Counsel, drafted sentence notes for Crown Court matters and conducted legal research.
Prior to joining the Crown Prosecution Service Francesca worked in family law.
Other Information
Francesca volunteers as a mentor for Young Bar Mentoring where she provides advice and guidance to those applying for pupillage.
