Before coming to the Bar, Louisa was a successful dental surgeon for over ten years. She worked within the NHS before developing a thriving private practice involving cosmetic dentistry and facial aesthetics. She therefore has a commercial understanding and experience well in excess of her Call.
Louisa has a keen interest in commercial and contractual disputes involving medical and dental professionals having worked on several such cases. Given her background she understands and appreciates the challenges and practicalities of working in healthcare, both within the NHS and the private sector. Louisa delivers lectures to dentists on relevant legal matters as part of their CPD.
Louisa approaches cases with sensitivity and meticulousness. A tenacious advocate, she is robust with submissions where appropriate. Louisa accepts instructions under the Public Access scheme.
She is also qualified as an international civil-commercial mediator, and can conduct mediations both in person and online as well as represent clients in mediations.
Commercial Litigation
Louisa has represented clients in small claim, fast track and multi-track commercial disputes involving breach of contract, misrepresentation and renewal clauses. She has also drafted pleadings and opinions on commercial matters involving breach of contract.
Louisa has recently acted in a multi-track commercial claim involving a failure to repay a retention fee following the termination of a dental associate agreement. She has also recently advised upon a renewal clause in an advertising contract.
Company and Partnership
Louisa has advised on a number of company and partnership disputes, including the interpretation of shareholder agreements. Louisa has recently drafted an opinion on the sale of jointly purchased shares following the dissolution of a partnership. She has also recently drafted an opinion and pleadings on a dispute between two company directors involving the seeking of a contribution upon repayment of a loan based on a guarantee and indemnity which established that both directors were co-sureties.
Procedural Issues
Louisa has extensive experience of procedural matters including applications related to summary judgment, strike-out, default judgment and injunctions, heard in both the County Court and the High Court. Recently, she successfully resisted an application for an interim injunction in the High Court. Louisa also drafts pleadings and opinions on such matters.
