Scope of practice
Alex receives instructions in a wide range of fields. He specialises in cases involving particularly vulnerable individuals and has a growing practice in Trusts, Wills and Contentious Probate.
He is especially interested in matters relating to capacity and trusts, claims under the Inheritance Act 1975 and TOLATA cases.
In the mental capacity context, Alex advises regularly in relation to LPA/EPAs, financial deputy applications, gift and statutory Will applications, and applications for the removal/substitution of P as trustee.
Public Guardian v PS & Ors  Unreported, HHJ Hilder
Case involving fifteen separate donors who had applied to register a Lasting Power of Attorney ("LPA”). All of the instruments within these fifteen LPA applications purported to give the attorney(s) the power to provide financial assistance and maintenance to a person other than the donor. The case established guidance for future LPA’s.

Multi-track trial for damages arising out of a breach of fiduciary obligations as a deputy for property and financial affairs.
