Shakil Najib has been appointed as a Circuit Judge

No5 Barristers’ Chambers are pleased to announce that the Queen has appointed Shakil Najib to be a Circuit Judge on the advice of the Lord Chancellor and the Lord Chief Justice of England and Wales.

He will be deployed on the Midlands Circuit, based at the Nottingham County Court with effect from 1 August 2022.

Shakil, who will be known as His Honour Judge Najib, was a member of the Business and Property Group at No5 and prior to his appointment had been appointed a Recorder (2018), Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge, Administrative Appeals Chamber (2018) and Deputy Upper Tribunal Judge, Immigration and Asylum Chamber (2020).

Mohammed Zaman QC, Head of the Business and Property Group at No5 said, “Shakil was very successful at the Bar and we have no doubt that he will apply himself with equal diligence on the Bench. We congratulate His Honour Judge Najib on his appointment as a Circuit Judge and wish him well on the next phase of his career.”
