Prosecution counsel sees rapist jailed

Talbir Singh, of No5 Barristers’ Chambers, has successfully prosecuted the case against a violent rapist who also beat up his victim in the attack.

Grant Mountford, 28, of Victoria Avenue, Bignall End, was handed a 15-year extended prison sentence after the jury at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court convicted him of rape, assault occasioning actual bodily harm and assault by beating.

He will serve 11 years in custody and a further four years on licence. Mountford will also be placed on the Sex Offenders’ Register for life.

Mr Singh told the court Mountford’s victim had been left petrified by the attack.
