Nabila Mallick of No5 Discusses Attitudes Towards Ethnic Names on TRT World

Fri, 31 Mar 2017

Nabila was interviewed on TRT World’s Insight programme alongside Ugo Arinzeh, Founder of Onyx Property Consultants.

The programme highlighted that people with ethnic names are up 3 times less likely to be offered jobs when compared to individuals with white Christian sounding names, even when they had the exact same qualifications.

Nabilla, said: “Name blind recruitment does not go far enough to address the problems of discrimination that presently exist at every stage of recruitment and career progression in classic pyramid organisations. If we are to develop a successful economy post- Brexit, the government needs to take serious measures to combat discrimination against a working age population of 14% BME. This may require monitoring workplace composition through the Equality and Human Rights commission.”
