Mon, 18 Apr 2016

A woman who has been on trial for the past two weeks has been found guilty of manslaughter of a 54 year old man in his Northampton home.

A jury at Northampton Crown Court returned a not guilty verdict for murder but found, Mary Cash, guilty of manslaughter, whom No5 Chambers’ Criminal Law Barrister, Jonas Hankin QC, defends.

It was heard that the victim was killed after being stabbed eight times and that a fire had deliberately started to destroy any evidence of his murder.

It was heard that Karl Pound, who had been jointly charged with Cash, pleaded guilty of the murder of Mr Chester on the second day of the trial.

Cash and Pound will be sentenced later on this year.
