Leon Harrison, 32, Selly Oak, has been jailed for life after stabbing his pregnant former partner, Jana Cartwright, 8 times.

Weeks prior to the attack Miss Cartwright had obtained a non-molestation order and made it clear their relationship was over, however she agreed to meet him at a car park after he said he wanted to see their daughter, who was in the back of the car.

At the car park, Harrison got into her car, choked her in a headlock then went to the drivers side and stabbed her 8 times, including in her heart.

Miss Cartwright miraculously survived the stabbings and gave birth to their son. Harrison later handed himself into police following appeals.

Michelle Heeley, prosecuting, said that although loving, Harrison had a “dark side” with a jealous and controlling nature.

He has been sentenced to a minimum of 16 years in jail.
