No prison time for thieving detective

A DETECTIVE sergeant who was convicted of stealing nearly £10,000 from her police constable partner and perverting the course of justice has avoided an immediate prison term after escaping with a six-month suspended sentence.

Carmen Hall, who extorted cash from PC Mark Jones’ credit card while they were both employed by the Staffordshire force and serving at Burton Police Station, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court for sentencing.

The 40-year-old escaped jail and was sentenced to 24 weeks in prison, suspended for a period of 18 months. She was also ordered to complete 150 hours of unpaid work.
