A man from Berkshire has been jailed for 13 years after sexually abusing and grooming a 14 year old from Staffordshire.

John Malley, 56, pleaded guilty at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court after initially getting in touch with the schoolgirl via social media. The court heard that Malley pretended to be 19 to 20 years old and used a picture that make him look like “someone out of One Direction”.

Mark Heywood QC prosecuting said that Malley: “began to play with her emotions, he would tell her that he had a younger sister who died.”

The court heard that their contact would become more and more frequent and the victim eventually agreed to meet up with Malley in June 2012.

Malley has two previous convictions for similar sexual offences involving young girls .
