John Butterfield QC is Named The Times 'Lawyer of the Week'

Thu, 21 May 2015

John Butterfield QC, member of No5 Chambers Crime Group, has been named 'Lawyer of the Week' by The Times, in recognition of him successfully defending News of the World Journalist Lucy Panton at the Court of Appeal.

Lucy Panton was the first person to be found guilty of paying public officials under Operation Elveden, an investigation by the Met into allegations of inappropriate payments to police. The Court of Appeal quashed her conviction last month, and this led to the majority of other Operation Eveden cases against other journalists being dropped.
