James Corbet Burcher appears in Successful Planning Appeal for 60-bed Care Home

Tue, 09 Apr 2019

Permission has been granted on s78 appeal for a 60 bed care home (Use Class C2) in Hartley Wintney, within Hart District Council: APP/N1730/W/18/3203638

James Corbet Burcher represented Forest Care in their appeal, instructed by Turley.

The Appeal Decision examines the need for specialist elderly care accommodation, both at District and more local level, including recognition in the Council’s emerging Local Plan and the Parish’s emerging neighbourhood plan.

It further identifies that there would be no unacceptable effect on the character and appearance of the area, having regard (amongst other matters) to the particular nature of the operation of the care home at night-time.

The decision reflects the significant positive weight to be accorded to this type of development, which can perform an invaluable social/healthcare role within local communities across the country.

The No5 Planning Group has expertise across the whole range of specialist accommodation and members have represented developers/operators and LPAs in many cases in recent years.
