Ian Paterson Breast Surgery Litigation

Wed, 14 Nov 2012

Simon Michael has been instructed in several of the cases brought against a consultant surgeon Ian Paterson for negligent surgery conducted on women suffering from breast cancer.

Hundreds of women have come forward following surgery involving the controversial "cleavage sparing mastectomy" technique adopted by Mr Paterson when working for the Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust and operating privately. The technique leaves in place breast tissue which, according to guidelines, should be removed and as a result many women have suffered recurrence of their cancers. Mr Paterson has been suspended by the GMC while enquiries, including police enquiries, continue.

Simon is instructed by Thompsons (Birmingham) and JW Slater and Gordon (London).
