Fri, 13 Dec 2013

Brian Farmer, 64, Yardley, was discovered dead in his flat on 19th May this year. Birmingham Crown Court heard that he had been tortured.

Mr Farmer suffered boiling water being poured over him, five stab wounds, broken ribs and 17 separate injuries to his head and neck.

Four defendants denied murder; Lisa Clarke, 41, Aston, Vaughn Davies, 18, Derby, Peter Knowles, 52 and Jason Andrews, 40 both of no fixed address.

Gareth Evans QC, prosecuting, said “The prosecution case is that each of these four defendants were present in that flat and each of them acted together and played a part in a prolonged assault.” He also said that whilst being quizzed, the defendants all told different stories and attempted to minimize their involvement.

All have now been found guilty and jailed. Judge William Davis QC sentenced Andrews to a minimum of 27 years, Clarke for 23 years and Davies for 14 years, all were convicted of murder. Knowles was sentenced to 14 years after being acquitted of murder but found guilty of manslaughter.
