Dr Chelvan appointed Independent Reviewer for the IAGCI

No5 Barristers’ Chambers Dr Chelvan has been successfully appointed as an Independent Reviewer by the Independent Chief Inspector of Borders and Immigration to provide a review of the coverage of Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity Issues in Country Policy and Information Notes (CPINs) produced by the Country Policy and Information Team, UK Home Office. Dr Chelvan is a globally recognised expert in protection and human rights claims based on sexual or gender identity and expression and has been individually commissioned to conduct this review.

Following the submission of his report by 17 January 2020 and discussion at the Independent Advisory Group on Country Information (IAGCI) March 2020 meeting, Dr Chelvan’s review will be included as an annex of a report by the Chief Inspector that is submitted to the Home Secretary for laying in Parliament and it will be published on the Independent Inspector’s website.
