Dealing With the Problems of Late Night Drinking

Thu, 13 Sep 2012

The Government’s response to the public consultation it carried out in April on Dealing with the Problems of Late Night Drinking’ has now been published in July 2012 The consultation invited views on two measures in the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011 (“the 2011 Act”) that will be implemented through regulations: early morning alcohol restriction orders (“EMROs”) and the late night levy (“LNL”).

The new regulations are due to come into force in October 2012 although the implementation of any EMRO is unlikely to be effective until March 2013 and any LNL approved by a licensing authority is unlikely to be implemented before June 2013 in view of the consultations required.
