David Mason QC defends acquitted boxing trainer

Former Ricky Hatton trainer Bob Shannon has been unanimously cleared of a sex attack on a teenager under the age of consent in which David Mason QC defended in.

Mr Shannon was accused of having kissed an underage schoolgirl and urging her to ‘run away’ with him.

Shannon, 59 denied sexually assaulting the girl in May last year in a Manchester Crown Court trial, this was ended with him being acquitted by the jury after several hours of deliberation.

The court heard evidence from a number of character witnesses who Shannon had trained with.
