A 24-year-old man has been detained indefinitely after fatally stabbing a man in Birmingham

A woman found 23-year-old Oliver Smith, slumped on a pavement in Larkhill Walk, at 2pm on Sunday. He later died in hospital.

Mr Smith, known to friends as Oli, from Sisefield Road in Kings Norton, was taken by ambulance to hospital but doctors lost their desperate battle to save his life and he was pronounced dead later that day.

A post-mortem examination carried out by a Home Office pathologist revealed that he had suffered a single stab.

A 23-year-old man is due to appear at Birmingham Magistrates Court today in connection with the death.
