Adrian Keeling QC played host to a delegation from the Royal Thai Embassy last week, taking them on a tour of Oxford and then London that explored the hidden gems of the English Legal System.
Adrian led the two day trip which saw more than 50 Thai visitors welcomed to Hertford College, Oxford last Thursday followed by a rare insight into the world of English law on Friday.
The majority of the delegates were representatives of the Thai legal system, including the President of the Court of Appeal, The Senior Executive Vice President, the Deputy Director General of the Civil Court, along with senior figures from government, business, and industry.
Mr Keeling said: “This was a hugely successful trip organised by No5 Chambers at the request of the Royal Thai Embassy. It was for a large party of 58 Thai dignitaries, and it was a real privilege to be able to showcase the rich tradition and history of the law in this country.
“They particularly enjoyed the private tour of the Inns of Court, and seeing the hidden area of London that has been home to Barristers and the Knights Templar since the 12th Century. I am very grateful to the Treasurer and sub Treasurer of the Inner Temple for welcoming them. I know the President of the Court of Appeal was particularly grateful to Lord Hughes of Ombersley, a Judge of our Supreme Court, for his fascinating talk on our legal system”.
“We then moved to the Royal Courts of Justice where our guests were able to witness the imposing High Court in action, and meet Lady Justice Arden in her Chambers.”
“This was on top of a visit to Oxford’s Hertford College the day before. The College could not have hosted us better. It included a great talk by Professor John Gardener a professor of Jurisprudence and a tour of the college”.
