The Professional Negligence team at No5 Barristers’ Chambers has enjoyed an increasing reputation in this field over recent years, having recruited carefully. The team of 27 barristers has specialist expertise and acts for both claimants and defendants, having an excellent track record in advising soundly, representing clients skilfully and achieving highly satisfactory outcomes to claims.

The specialist counsel act for a wide range of professional bodies, insurers and individuals. The team is approachable, with excellent strength in depth enabling the group to turn around urgent paperwork and assist the legal team when urgently required to do so. No5 also has specialist clinical negligence and insurance groups. This enables us to offer clients a full range of services across the professional negligence, professional indemnity and insurance fields.


The Professional Negligence team practises in the following fields of professional negligence work: solicitors, barristers, accountants, financial service providers, insolvency practitioners, insurance brokers, construction and property professionals, including surveyors, architects, engineers and planners as well as health professionals.

The work usually involves serious reputational issues and is conducted in the High Court but there is expertise at every level.

The group also represents parties in hearings before professional bodies and tribunals and is also involved in ADR work acting for either party and providing adjudicators or mediators. No5 can provide first-class facilities for ADR at its Birmingham, London, Bristol or Leicester offices.

Our expertise in the international market enables the group to provide specific advice and representation with regards to cross-border disputes, disputes overseas and disputes involving jurisdictional issues.
