
William Theaker is a Practice Director within the Clinical Negligence and Personal Injury Groups at No5 Barristers’ Chambers, one of the largest and most highly regarded sets in the country. Based primarily in London, William oversees the strategic and operational management of the team, including leading silks and juniors practising across all aspects of personal injury, clinical negligence, inquests, and public inquiries.
Having joined No5 over a decade ago, William began his career in the post room before progressing through several clerking roles across multiple practice areas. In 2022, he was appointed Practice Director, his career progression reflects both his commercial acumen and deep understanding of the Bar and its evolving legal market.
Alongside his role at No5, William sits on the Executive Committee, Management Committee and the EDI, wellbeing and Retention Committee of the Institute of Barristers’ Clerks (IBC), where he serves as Common Law Secretary and contributes to wider discussions surrounding the future of the Bar, clerking, and chambers management. He also sits on the Race Panel for the Bar Council and was recently appointed to the Equality, Diversity and Social Mobility (EDSM) Committee, supporting initiatives focused on inclusion, representation, and progression within the profession.
