Talbir Singh KC is a specialist barrister in the fields Criminal and Regulatory law, with many years experience.
Talbir prosecutes and defends and has experience in Appeal by Case Stated and Judicial Review. He also has a keen interest in the Human Rights Act.
Talbir has experience in rape, murder and drug trafficking cases and has dealt with a number of drug trafficking enquiries. He has good knowledge of the new Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 as well as custody time limits procedure.
Talbir is a Grade 4 Prosecutor and has prosecuted other regulatory offences for government bodies.
Talbir was Defence Counsel in R v Chauhan and Hollingsworth, July 2000, resulting in changes to the way speeding offences are prosecuted, in particular within Birmingham.
Talbir was also Defence Counsel in R (on the application of Marks) v Wolverhampton Crown Court, 16/5/03, (QBD) in respect of overturning an extension of custody time limits where a Crown Court Judge had previously refused to extend them.
Talbir acted for a man who was judged to have been unlawfully held on remand for seven months, one month over the custody limit. As a result, he is due to receive damages. (Full Story on BBC News)
