Nisha Bambhra has a busy practice in both Private and Public Law Family matters, with a keen interest in Court of Protection work.
Nisha also has experience of cases involving forced marriages, Female Genital Mutilation as well as international jurisdictional matters including relocation and abduction.
She is described as ‘an approachable, fair minded and emphatic barrister who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience when representing her clients’.
Matters concerning domestic violence are of a particular interest to Nisha after spending time practising in the criminal courts. She is an astute cross-examiner in respect of alleged victims and perpetrators and regularly represents clients at final hearings in applications concerning non-molestation and occupation orders. She is often commended by her clients for being empathetic yet professional at all times.
In public law proceedings, Nisha has experience in conducting CMHs, contested Interim Care Order hearings and final hearings. She has represented clients in cases where there have been allegations of domestic violence, mental health concerns, substance misuse, neglect and sexual abuse. She has a strong ability to work with people from diverse backgrounds (including clients with learning difficulties).
Nisha also has a keen interest in Court of Protection work, issues concerning forced marriages, Female Genital Mutilation as well as international jurisdictional matters, both in private and public law proceedings, in areas concerning relocation and abduction.
In private children law, Nisha is a shrewd negotiator and adept at finding creative solutions to child arrangements in the context of complex acrimonious relationships. She is experienced in conducting First Hearing and Dispute Resolution Appointments (FHDRAs), Dispute Resolution Appointments (DRAs) and contested interim and/or final hearings in applications for s.8 orders, Special Guardianship Orders (SGOs), enforcement of contact and leave to remove (including cases where there is an intractable contact dispute). Her interpersonal skills are a particular strength in this area, enabling her to establish a rapport with clients and opponents alike.
Mr Justice Keehan granted an application for a wasted costs against an expert witness who on multiple occasions failed to comply with the Court’s case-management directions to provide an addendum expert report.
Attended a Pre-Trial Review Hearing involving an end of life case where the Applicant had applied to withdraw life sustaining treatment from a very young child.

Nisha Bambhra provides advice and representation in police misconduct and regulatory matters, leveraging her extensive experience in criminal law. She has also developed a cross-over practice representing police officers in family proceedings and disclosure of family court proceedings into criminal proceedings. Her multi-disciplinary practice equips her with a unique perspective and skill set to effectively advocate for her clients.
