Katherine Luckhurst joined Chambers a tenant in October 2025, following the successful completion of pupillage, and is currently accepting instructions in all areas of family law and Court of Protection.
Katherine’s pupillage was supervised by Rebekah Wilson and covered cases spanning the spectrum of family law. Katherine gained experience in all stages of proceedings, from initial ICO applications to complex fact-finding hearings involving multiple intervenors. Katherine was also supervised by Richard Alomo in Court of Protection work.
Since being on her feet, Katherine has undertaken her own cases in all areas of family law and Court of Protection. Katherine has appeared cases at all stages of family proceedings, including multi-day fact-finding hearings, interim care order applications, Financial Dispute Resolution appointments, and appeal hearings. With this broad experience, Katherine has developed excellent understanding of the law and procedures governing each area of family law.
In her Court of Protection practice, Katherine has been instructed by both the Official Solicitor and Local Authorities, primarily in Section 21A proceedings.
Prior to commencing pupillage, Katherine worked at Covent Garden Family Law as a paralegal, where she worked on cases involving public children law, private children law and Hague Convention cases. The firm’s caseload included reported cases involving complex issues of transparency, international elements, and allegations of serious non-accidental injury against parents. Within her role, Katherine regularly attended court alongside counsel on cases in the Family Courts and High Court. Additionally, Katherine worked directly with clients, drafting witness statements, conducting meetings and dealing with client enquiries. In this role, Katherine has developed an empathetic yet firm approach to working with clients. In addition to her paralegal responsibilities, Katherine also represented clients at pre-proceedings meetings, where she discussed written agreements with the clients and then advocated for them during and after the meeting.
Katherine has a keen interest in working with victims and alleged perpetrators of domestic violence, having worked and continuing to volunteer with the Herts Domestic Abuse Helpline for a number of years. Her work includes advising and signposting victims and perpetrators to resources to assist with their individual circumstances. Katherine continues to volunteer with the helpline in her spare time and maintains a thorough knowledge of support services for those experiencing domestic violence.
Katherine has been observing members of Chambers acting in cases across the spectrum of family law.
Katherine acted in a fact-finding hearing before Her Honour Judge Robertson at the Central Family Court in London, where the court made 14 findings from 14 allegations of domestic abuse in favour of Katherine’s client.
Katherine is a second six pupil who is a member of the family group and the Court of Protection team.
In terms of her Court of Protection work, Katherine was supervised by Richard Alomo, as well as shadowing other members of Chambers. During her pupillage, Katherine observed a wide variety of Court of Protection practice, including Section 21A and Section 16 proceedings, representing the Official Solicitors and the Local Authority.
Having completed the No5 Court of Protection team’s shadowing and assessment, Katherine is now taking on her own Court of Protection instructions.
