
John has a mixed civil practice with a particular focus on personal injury, clinical negligence and inquests.
Representing both Claimants and Defendants, he regularly appears as counsel in cases concerning road traffic accidents, employersβ and public liability, product liability, and Highways Act claims, including cases involving allegations of fundamental dishonesty. Alongside this, he has a busy paper practice in which he drafts pleadings and advises on liability and quantum.
Prior to joining No5 John practised at the Employed Bar in an international law firm, meaning he is well familiar with working closely with instructing solicitors and prides himself on his approachability and quality of client care.
Johnβs court practice encompasses a wide range of personal injury matters, including road traffic accidents (with credit hire), employersβ and public liability, product liability, and Highways Act claims. He also accepts instructions to conductΒ interim and case management hearings.
His paper practice consists of drafting Particulars of Claim, Schedules and Counter-Schedules of Loss, and Defences. He is also regularly instructed to advise on liability and quantum and has a particular interest in cases that raise complex legal issues in relation to causation.
Prior to coming to the Bar, John was a clinical negligence paralegal so has experience of claims involving delayed diagnosis of cancer, injury arising from gynaecological and obstetric errors, and dental negligence.
As such, he is able to advise on liability, causation and quantum, as well as draft Part 35 questions and undertake conferences with experts.
