Heather Dardis specialises in personal injury and related insurance issues.
She represents Claimants and Defendants in respect of a wide range of high value claims and has notable experience of cases involving complex issues of medical causation and/or substantial medical evidence.
Highly regarded for her warm and empathetic manner in dealing with clients and witnesses, she is particularly sought after to represent Claimants suffering with serious psychological injuries; chronic pain or complex regional pain syndrome and other injuries and effects where a sensitive approach is critical.
Heather’s personal injury practice is balanced evenly between Claimant and Defendant work. She is a senior junior, experienced in dealing with high value and complex claims, including catastrophic injury claims.
Heather was instructed by Morrish & Co Solicitors to act for Claimant, Rachael Presdee, in her claim against Soho Theatre, following an accident at work in 2012 that left her paralysed. Led by Stuart Brown QC (since retired), the team secured a sum close to £3.7m in damages at a JSM. Heather drafted the schedule of special damages. Heather particularly enjoys and excels at cases where liability is hotly contested and loves nothing more than grappling with a complicated matrix of evidence and ensuring Judges are aligned to the important arguments. She is particularly adept at cases involving difficult causation issues and extensive medical evidence. She has a wide range of experience in most aspects of personal injury litigation including employers’ liability, product liability, occupiers’ liability, public liability and road traffic claims.
Heather has represented Claimants and Defendants in a number of equestrian cases and has a particular expertise in this area being a keen horsewoman with extensive equine behavioural knowledge. She has also acted for several Claimants in the entertainment sector especially stunt workers on film sets.
Heather is very adept at dealing with claims in which issues of fraud and fundamental dishonesty arise. She also has extensive trial and advisory experience in high-value credit hire claims and issues relating to mitigation and impecuniosity have frequently featured in many of Heather’s cases.
