Alexander Bailey

Call: 2022

Alexander Bailey is currently undertaking a specialist Employment pupillage, under the supervision of Jack Feeny.

Throughout his pupillage, Alex has assisted on matters in the Employment Tribunal, the EAT and the High Court. The work he has undertaken has been varied and has concerned issues such as: direct and indirect discrimination, harassment, victimisation, unfair dismissal, TUPE, holiday pay, and negligent misstatement in the employment context.

Alex has also assisted members of Chambers in the County Court, and shadowed Members of Chambers in the Court of Appeal.

Alex now accepts instructions to appear in the Employment Tribunal, draft pleadings, advices and other ancillary work.

Prior to joining No5, Alex completed the BCL at the University of Oxford (Christ Church) and completed his LLB at Keele University.

Alex also spent a year as a fulltime Debt Adviser at the Citizens Advice, where he provided free legal advice to individuals experiencing financial issues and negotiating with creditors on behalf of lay clients.

Career Prior to Law

Prior to changing to a career in law, Alex completed a Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry and Joinery.

After then spending some time working in the hospitality industry, Alex moved to Australia where he lived for two years. Whilst in Australia, he continued his work in the hospitality industry and also worked on a vineyard, Glenmoore, in Margaret River, whereby he worked alongside the fifth generation owner, to make wine.
