As well as regularly acting in personal injury cases, Jack receives instructions in clinical negligence matters, inquest matters as well as in varied High Court Business and Property work.
Jack regularly appears for both Claimants and Defendants in a wide range of personal injury matters, including trials in employers’ liability, public liability and trials involving allegations of Fundamental Dishonesty. In addition, Jack has built a vibrant paperwork practice, frequently accepting instructions to advise and draft pleadings.
Jack welcomes instructions in clinical negligence matters, having had experience in cases involving such allegations as improper weight-bearing advice, gastronomical monitoring and gynaecological failings.
Jack’s Business and Property experience includes rectification claims, applications under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependents) Act 1975 and challenges to the validity of the will on such grounds as incapacity, undue influence and want of approval.
Before joining the Bar, Jack read German at St Hilda’s College, Oxford before returning to Nottingham to complete his GDL and BPTC. Whilst at law school Jack won Nottinghamshire Law Society’s President’s Cup. For his Pro Bono work before joining the Bar, Jack was named ‘Volunteer of the Year: Rising Star’ in the East Midlands Charity Awards 2020.
One of Jack’s more niche areas of interest is in ecclesiastical law, particularly in clergy discipline and the faculty jurisdiction. Jack is on the Dean of Arches’ list of advocates offering their services in ecclesiastical cases, and has previously delivered training in ecclesiastical procedure. Jack has previously been instructed to advise in work involving questions of canon law, and Jack looks forward to exploring this interest further.
Outside Chambers, Jack enjoys walks in the countryside, going to the theatre and pretending to have a good aim for clay pigeons. Jack also plays an active role in the local legal community, serving as Assistant Junior to the Midland Circuit and as Chair of Nottinghamshire Junior Lawyers’ Division.
