On Friday 17 April 2026 the Caribbean Court of Justice convened a case management hearing in the matter of a criminal appeal originating from Guyana (Wazir Ali v DPP). The hearing was presided over by The Hon. Mme. Justice Rajnauth-Lee, sitting with Mr Justice Barrow, Mme Justice Ononaiwu, Mr Justice Eboe-Osuji and Mr Justice Bulkan.

At the hearing the Court appointed Philip Rule KC as one of its amici curiae in this matter. The hearing of the appeal is fixed to take place on 23 July 2026 at the home of the Court in Port of Spain, in the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago.

The Court is the apex court for appeals from the nations of Barbados, Belize, Dominica, Guyana, and St. Lucia. The CCJ also serves as an international tribunal with an original jurisdiction interpreting the Revised Treaty of Chaguaramas for all CARICOM member states.
