Harpreet Sandhu KC and Joshua Purser were instructed by the CPS’ Complex Casework Unit to prosecute Sean Jefferson who was convicted (following a seven-week trial before Brunner J) of murdering his five-week old daughter by causing her a catastrophic brain injury. In addition, he was was convicted of two counts of causing his daughter grievous bodily harm with intent. At the time of her death, she had 47 rib fractures and fractures to each of her femurs. The child’s mother, Amy Clark, was convicted of allowing those injuries and of allowing her death.
