Planning Inspector Gilbert-Wooldridge granted outline permission for 115 homes in Walsall’s Green Belt land, accepting the Appellant’s case that the site should be categorised as Grey Belt land and the proposal met all the requirements of paragraph 155 of the NPPF, thus it did not constitute inappropriate development in the Green Belt. Other issues in the appeal included highways, trees, and ecology but the Inspector was satisfied that concerns could be dealt with via conditions and, although there would be harm to biodiversity on site, the benefits of the proposal outweighed any adverse impacts.
Satnam Choongh and Chatura Saravanan represented the Appellant (William Davis Homes) instructed by Pegasus (Dave Onions and Blake Woodward). Brindle & Green Environmental Consultants (Joe Gilmour and Lucie Sweet) provided evidence on trees and ecology and BSP Consulting Ltd (Jason Davenport) provided evidence on highways.
