Daniel Oscroft successfully prosecuted Mohammed Suffi, who has been sentenced to 11½ years’ imprisonment for causing grievous bodily harm with intent, as well as for offences of affray and dangerous driving, following a violent incident outside the Tunnel Club in Birmingham. He was disqualified from driving for 10 years and 7 months.

Mr Oscroft prosecuted the case at trial and at sentence, setting out how Suffi and his friends had waited outside the nightclub and deliberately started a fight, before Suffi retreated to his car and then deliberately ran over the victim in the road. Suffi used his Mercedes SUV as a weapon, which left the victim with life-threatening and life-changing injuries. He later hid his vehicle and fled the country before being arrested on his return to the UK. The jury convicted Suffi of Grievous Bodily Harm with intent after a trial in December 2025.

Three co-defendants — Mustafa Gohari, Armaan Abid and Daanyal Hussain — were also prosecuted for their roles in violence outside the nightclub. Each pleaded guilty to affray and received 11-month suspended sentences with unpaid work and rehabilitation requirements.
